Jagadhatri Puja is one of the important festivals celebrated after Durga Puja, Laxmi and Kali Puja in the month of Kartik. Devotees worship and celebrate reincarnation of Goddess Durga in the name of Jagadhatri and create the splendid ambiance with high festive spirits. Jagaddhatri is referred as another name of Durga. In Sanskrit, Bengali and Assamse the word ‘Jagaddhatri’ literally means ‘Holder (dhatri) of the World (Jagat)’. The cult of Goddess Jagadhatri is directly derived from Tantra where she is a symbol of sattva... The two cities of West Bengal are famous for the worshiping of this goddess, namely Krishnanagar (Nadia District) and Chandannagar (Former French colony, Hooghly District a small town, 30 km north of Kolkata) are very special in terms of their grandeur and popularity. Though, nowadays, Chandannagar displays much more opulence during this Puja, Krishnanagar, has a special historical significance in the advent of Jagadhatri Puja. According to legend, Krishnachandra Ray, the raja of Krishnanagar of the Nadia District, was the one introduced the public worship of goddess Jagaddhatri. #jagadhatripuja #tantra #mythologyinspiration #jagadhatripuja2024 #chandannagarjagadhatri #indianfestival #jagadhatripujachandannagar #chandannagar বাঙালির ধর্মীয় মানসে রাজসিক দেবী দুর্গা ও তামসিক কালীর পরেই স্থান দেবী জগদ্ধাত্রীর। তিনি সত্ত্বগুণের দেবী। উপনিষদে তার নাম উমা হৈমবতী।tobeশাস্ত্রমতে এই নির্দিষ্ট জগদ্ধাত্রী রূপের নামকরণের পশ্চাতে রয়েছে সূক্ষ্মতর আধ্ম্যাতিক দর্শন। দেবী জগদ্ধাত্রী দুর্গারই ভিন্ন রূপ। দেবী দুর্গার মতই তিনি ত্রিনয়না। তবে, দুর্গার মত দেবী জগদ্ধাত্রীর হাতের সংখ্যা ১০ নয়, চার। আবার দেবী দুর্গার মতই দেবী জগদ্ধাত্রী সিংহবাহিনী। তাঁর গলায় থাকে নাগযজ্ঞোপবীত। দেবীর দুই বাম হাতে থাকে শঙ্খ ও শার্ঙ্গধনু। আর, দুই ডান হাতে থাকে চক্র ও পঞ্চবাণ। তিনি আদ্যাশক্তি মহামায়ার আর এক রূপ। এই জগতের ধারক তিনি। দেবী জগদ্ধাত্রী, যে দুর্গারই বিকল্প রূপ, তার সুস্পষ্ট উল্লেখ পাওয়া যায় শ্রীশ্রীচণ্ডীতে। তবে দেবীর পায়ের নিচে কাটা হাতির মুণ্ড কেন?শ্রীশ্রীচণ্ডীতে বলা হয়, যুদ্ধের সময়ে মত্ত মহিষাসুর ধারণ করেন হস্তীরূপ। সেই হস্তী দেবীকে বধের চেষ্টা করলে দুর্গা ধারণ করেন এক চতুর্ভুজা মূর্তি।চক্রদ্বারা তিনি হাতির শুঁড় ছেদ করেন। সেই রূপটিই জগদ্ধাত্রী দেবী রূপে পূজিতা হন। তাই দেখা যায়, দেবী জগদ্ধাত্রীর বাহন সিংহ এক হস্তীর মৃত শরীরের উপর দাঁড়িয়ে।তাই পদতলে থাকে হাতি।আবার এই মূর্তির অপর ব্যাখ্যাও রয়েছে। মানুষের মন সদা ব্যস্ত। সদা চঞ্চল। তাকে মত্ত হাতির সঙ্গে তুলনা করা হয়। এই মত্ত মন-করীকে বশ করতে পারলেই সাধনায় সিদ্ধিলাভ সম্ভব।উন্মত্ত মনের তমোগুণকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করে রজোগুণকে অন্তরে প্রতিষ্ঠা করাই সাধনার লক্ষ্য। সিংহ রজোগুণের প্রতীক। আবার রজোকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করে সত্ত্ব গুণ, দেবী স্বয়ং যার প্রতীক। তাই, মা জগদ্ধাত্রী সিংহের উপর আসীন, আর সিংহটি মৃত হস্তীর উপর দাঁড়িয়ে। সংস্কৃত শব্দে হাতির অর্থ করী। তাকে দেবী বধ করেন বলে জগদ্ধাত্রীর অপর নাম করীন্দ্রাসুরনিসূদিনী।

The tremendous heights of Nabadwip's idols provided an unforgettable spectacle. In Bengal, Maa Kali has inspired some of the most revered spiritual figures, including Bamakhepa, Ramakrishna, Ramprasad, and Kamalakanta. Bamakhepa was a mystic known as the “mad saint” of Tarapith, who devoted his life to Kali, experiencing divine ecstasy and visions through intense sadhana. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, one of Bengal's most celebrated saints, worshipped Kali as the Divine Mother, often falling into a trance and seeing her as the living embodiment of the universe. Ramprasad Sen, the 18th-century poet-saint, composed moving devotional songs (Ramprasadi) to Kali, portraying her as both nurturing and fierce, expressing his unbreakable bond with her.
